Capitol Reef National Park features the Waterpocket Fold, a 65 million years old buckle in the earth's crust. This geologic anomaly has created cliffs, ridges, and exceptional rock formations. The Fremont River flowing through the settlement known as Fruita allowed for the planting of orchards that still bloom in the spring against the backdrop of soaring sandstone cliffs.
