Scott Gibson M.D. has been taking photographs since high school, but started working on it seriously in 1992. His first publication was the 2000 Splendor of Oregon calendar. It was a striking success, and since then he and his wife Melody have published and sold over 120,000 calendars and currently publishes five titles every year.
Dr. Gibson still practices medicine full time in his home town of McMinnville, Oregon. On the weekends and his vacations he takes his cameras and heads out to capture the scenery. He and Melody have traveled across the U.S. and to various locales around the world, and wherever they go they look for sites that capture the essence of the place.
In spite of the digital revolution in photography, Scott still shoots mainly in film. His workhorse camera is a Pentax 67 medium format film camera, and at times he shoots in large format 4x5. He is now venturing into the flexible and cost-saving world of digital photography. It’s helping him bring down his $3000 per year film expenses.
In recent years, Melody has taken up digital photography and her photos now appear in the calendars they publish and some photos by her will be found on this web site. She focuses more on close-up photography, while Scott tends to emphasize the broader landscape images.
